Holding Space for Healing, One Story at a Time

China Borjas, MA, LPC - Owner, Therapist

I grew up straddling two very different worlds—an underserved neighborhood and a veterans care home where my family lived and worked. This unique upbringing gave me early insight into the weight of unspoken stories, the lasting impact of trauma, and the quiet resilience that so many carry. Whether it was neighbors facing systemic injustice or veterans navigating life after service, I witnessed how deeply pain can shape a person—and how vital it is to be seen, heard, and supported—not just individually, but within the systems meant to serve us.

Equally formative was the home I lived in, one filled with women who showed up for one another in both everyday moments and life’s biggest challenges. It was a place where meals, laughter, grief, and responsibilities were shared—a living example of mutual care and collective strength. That house taught me what it means to belong and how powerful it is to be held in community.

These early exposures helped shape the heart of my work: a deep, unwavering empathy and a belief in the healing power of connection. It’s also where I first encountered the spirit of Ubuntu—a Southern African philosophy meaning, “I am because we are.” Ubuntu reminds us that our well-being is deeply intertwined with one another’s. It’s this belief in shared humanity and collective healing that anchors my approach to therapy.

  • My Experience

I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 10 years of clinical experience. My work has spanned school systems, inpatient settings, community programs, and military support services—offering a wide lens into the many ways trauma and resilience show up in people’s lives.

I’ve supported children who have survived trafficking, worked as a Restorative Justice Coordinator in public schools, and provided care in inpatient substance use treatment. I’ve also served soldiers and their families through the Colorado Army National Guard, and was honored in 2022 with The Order of Saint Maurice for exemplary civilian service to service members. These experiences have deeply shaped my understanding of systemic stress, identity, and healing.

In my current practice, I welcome individuals from all walks of life navigating the impacts of toxic stress and trauma. I’m especially honored to hold space for women—particularly those seeking a safe and supportive place to voice their needs—as well as for service members and frontline professionals who often carry their pain in silence. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, or life transitions, I aim to provide an affirming space to reconnect with one’s voice, needs, and sense of self.

My approach is trauma-informed and rooted in evidence-based practices. I believe healing is not linear or one-size-fits-all. I’m committed to meeting people where they are, with care, cultural humility, and the belief that healing begins when we feel safe, seen, and supported.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” — Maya Angelou
